Biryani is a collection of traditional Mughal cuisine dishes. Rice (preferably basmati), spices, meat, egg, or vegetable base, and a variety of optional extras such as dried fruits, nuts, and yoghurt are the main ingredients of biryani.

Because of the popularity of biryani in India and other countries, there are now many different types of biryanis, such as Sindhi biryani (made with yoghurt), Bombay biryani (with loads of spices and kevra), and Lucknowi biryani (made with a special technique of cooking the meat and rice separately, then together until fully cooked). This list is for you if you are a biryani fanatic.

Here are 7 mouthwatering biryani’s from throughout India that are sure to whet your appetite:

1. Lucknowi Biryani

The Lucknowi Biryani was as royal as a dish could be, but only in terms of taste, not spices. It has a mild flavour and is easier on the stomach than other options. In terms of preparation, it’s very similar to Calcutta Biryani, with the exception of the potato. It makes up for the lack of spices with their scent and flavour.

This delectable meal comes straight from Lucknow’s alleys. The rice is cooked separately in garden-fresh spices before being combined with the marinated chicken. The rice and chicken get just the proper amount of flavour from this procedure. This is a must-try dish!

2. Mughlai Chicken Biryani

Mughlai Chicken Biryani is a majestic dish fit for a king and a favourite among many. When you have company, this dish combines exceptional ingredients in the Mughlai style of cooking – it’s a complete one-consonant.

Chicken Biryani isn’t just a tasty dish. A Mughal-style layer of rice with spicy chicken is a great opportunity. For Mughlai chicken biryani, I like a boneless chicken. When it’s drenched in sauce and cooked with rice, it’s even better.

3. Hyderabadi Biryani

This biryani is flavoured with kewda, rose water, and saffron and is one of the most aromatic and savoury dishes. Golden-fried onions, chillies, mint leaves, and hot chicken are stacked on top of the rice. This meal pairs well with raita.

Hyderabadi Biryani has a distinct flavour profile. Everything about it, from the perfume to the taste to the soft meat to the Zaffran, gives it a distinct appearance. The beef is tenderised with yoghurt, the lemon adds tang, the fried onions lend a crunchy sweetness, and the Hyderabadi spices make it spicy.

4. Afghani Mutton Biryani

Afghani Mutton Biryani is simple to prepare and delightful to eat. The addition of dry fruits sets it apart from other biryani dishes. This easy homemade Afghani biryani recipe can be served as a main course dish for lunch or dinner.

Afghani mutton biryani is distinguished by the fact that it is cooked with lamb meat. It is entirely up to you whether you want your lamb meat boneless or with bones. To create afghani mutton biryani, use high-quality basmati rice.

5. Kacchi Biryani

Though most versions of biryani include the same basic ingredients of rice and meat, there are many different ways to prepare it. Kachchi biryani is a type of biryani in which uncooked but marinated chicken is layered with rice in numerous layers in a handi or an earthen pot and cooked on the stove.

The steam inside the handi allows the meal to be cooked because it is sealed with wheat dough. Throughout the cooking process, the container remains sealed.

6. Kashmiri Biryani

Kashmiri cuisine has been influenced by a variety of cultures over time. The first biryanis were created as a result of the Mughal Emperor’s frequent visits to Kashmir, a heavenly paradise where he loved to retreat.

It stands out for the use of asafoetida, in addition to the grandeur of Kashmiri Biryani. The Kashmiri Bhuna Gosht Biryani is a popular dish throughout the country.

7. Sindhi Biryani

This is a Biryani with a Pakistani flavour, as it was popular in the country’s previously called Sindh area prior to division. Since then, it has evolved into an important part of Sindhi and Pakistani cuisine.

This biryani is truly unusual in flavour, and its aromatic spices and flavour make it a treasure of sorts. Rice, meat, vegetables, and spices are the key ingredients in this cuisine. In fact, Sindhi Biryani has become a popular lunch on foreign planes passing through Pakistan.
