West Indies is a subregion in North America surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean including 13 independent islands and 18 other dependencies. These have three major archipelagos- the Greater Antilles, the lesser Antilles, and the Lucayan.

The landscape has beautiful weather. Neither too cold nor too hot. They have a tropical maritime climate.

Culture

The second most common source of income is international trade. Any fall in these trades can end up shattering the base of these economies. Major exports include agricultural products like bananas, sugar, citrus, cocoa, etc.

Healthcare

Even though the living conditions are standard relative to other less developed countries, the health conditions are no worse. The hygiene conditions are good for nothing. Even though west indies have a good life expectancy (73.9 yrs) and low infant mortality rate( 20 per 1000 live births).

The problem lies in the sanitation part. There is a lack of supply of proper drinking water and proper sewage drainage which leads the way for health diseases like cardio, pulmonary and respiratory. Common ones Ares gastroenteritis,

West indies provide free healthcare for their officially registered residents including drug prescriptions except those who prefer going to private clinics.

Festivals

Caribbean Carnival is the name given for all the festivals conducted annually in these Caribbean islands and has gained fame internationally worldwide since 1881. These festivals may last a month or so. These festivals are known for their colorfulness, their native costumes, enthralling dance forms, and music.

All paint and energizing vibe to the area. These Caribbean carnivals have common themes originating from the Trinidad and Tobago carnival. Trinidad is focused on folklore costumes and traditions.

Another point to be praised about the parade is the drumming. The parade is done in the daytime followed by a grand party known as J’ ouvert. It’s one of the most vibrant cultural events organized over there. These events are packed with tight security forces to prevent violence or other mishaps during the parties.
